Forget about the pile of work that is right on my mind.
I have serious withdrawal symptoms every time I looked at my photos from my recent travel - Taiwan.
It’s my third time to Taiwan and I’m still loving it pretty much. The language, the food, shopping and culture make me very delighted. I went to three cities in Taiwan, namely Taipei, Hsinchu and Kaohsiung. Was really excited about this journey because I haven’t been to anywhere outside Taipei.
The best part of the journey - I was travelling with someone I love :)
My students asked if I was having an early “Honeymoon”. My friend Fred calls it “Sugarmoon”. I am very sure that I was over the moon ever since we got ourselves the air tickets!

Here’s our adventures at a glance! (or rather on a scroll!)
At Beitou Hot Springs Museum
Architecture was very much Japanese influenced. Did hot spring come from the Japanese? Beats me. We were too busy taking photos to read the information. Haha.

At Beitou Thermal Valley
We wowed at the smoke, fog or steam? And we inhaled sulphur. Haha.

At Jay Chou’s Mr J restaurant
Being a fan of the movie “Secret”, imagine how thrilled I was when I was there!

In Hsinchu city centre
Hsinchu is indeed NOT a touristy place. Glad that my friend Guo liang told me not too spend to many days there. Enjoyed my stay and its weather anyways. Beware of motorbikes though! They are all over the place! Hsinchu is also famous for their beehoon or rice noodles.

In Window on China Theme Park (小人国)
I’ve been wanting to come to this place ever since I saw it on a Taiwanese variety show. Thought it was such a cute place to go to! The only sad thing is, the place seems to be underrated. Not many buses nor people visit the place, according to our cab driver.
Notice that Doraemon “endorses” the theme park! See the Great Wall of China in its miniature! Watch my WingChun stance in front of mini Shaolin Temple :)

At Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung is similar to Taipei, just that the latter could be more happening? Haha. Really liked this place as well as food and shopping was cheaper than Taipei. There’s MRT which makes it easy to get around!
Had fun shopping at XinJueJiang, where we could get cheap brandless yet good quality clothes! Dream Mall is unexpectedly Snoopy themed! Loved Snoopy when I was a kid. The Ferris Wheel there is Sanrio characters themed! And what is Taiwan without their popular night markets? To mark a pleasant end to our holiday, we took a night stroll along the Love River on our last night.

This is the first time I traveled with him alone. I was very determined and excited to make it a romantic and memorable experience for the both of us. Guess I succeeded. Woohoo! We missed the times in Taiwan as soon as we came home.
I guess going on a holiday to unwind also unleashes our characters and personalities to a greater extent. Traveling also makes us learn something about each other.
I enjoyed our 7 nights in Taiwan very much. Haven’t felt so relaxed in a long while since the recent months were laden with work and meeting deadlines. I wanna remember how to relax and play while I still can. Let’s work hard together! Will explore the rest of the world with my dearest. :)
